HBY: What inspired you to teach?
Stephanie: To share, pay forward, the amazingly profound benefits/blessings I received from yoga. I wanted to share that gift with others especially those who normally don’t think yoga is for them. Everyone can be a yogi.
HBY: What do you enjoy most about teaching at Hot Box Yoga?
Stephanie: The students —the diverse array and their kindness/warmth. I feel very blessed to have developed beautiful friendships/camaraderie with many.
HBY: Any advice you want to give your students reading this as they explore their practice?
Stephanie: Be present in your practice and focus on how it makes you feel. Not how a pose should look. Listen to your body and don’t compare yourself to others or a previous day. Everyday day, every practice is unique. Is never too late to start and learn so just be willing.
HBY: Aside from yoga, what are you most passionate about?
Stephanie: Dancing, Travel, Hiking, Scuba Diving, Massages—and just chilling on a beach. Joux de Vive! We only got one life, might as well live it up!!!
HBY: If you had to narrow it down, what is the one takeaway anyone reading this should walk away with?
Stephanie: Enjoy the journey—all aspect of a true yoga practice—not just on the physical aspect, and definitely not just on the end result. Mastering a pose.
Because there’ll be the next progression, new pose. Yoga is a lifestyle practice that encompasses more than the asanas. Focused on how it makes you feel.
HBY: Who is your personal hero?
Stephanie: My Mom.
HBY: What music are you listening to right now?
Stephanie: What don’t I listen? I love all types of music from reggaeton to classical.
Apropos for a yoga class: “Breathe” by Telepopmusik. “Fortune Soul” by Blackmil. And still apropos, but to get your groove on, ‘My My My” by Troye Sivan. Oh can’t forget the smooth head bobbing of “Didn’t Cha Know” by Erykah Badu.
Birthday: I consider myself a “love child” as i was born on Feb. 14th. A friend described my chronological age as: 21 years😊, with 29+ years of experience.
