Monthly "Feature A Teacher": Simona

October 5, 2019

Simona has been teaching yoga 4+ years and is helming our 2019 New Teacher Training! She is also entrusted as Hot Box Yoga's Manager. It's not a stretch to say Hot Box Yoga couldn't do it without her!

HBY: What do you enjoy most about teaching?

Simona: I get to share what I truly love. I love to see my students grow and get breakthroughs. I am their biggest cheerleader. I like to see that moment when everything clicks into the place. How people start to change in their lives, not just physically on their yoga mats. I love empowering people and get them to believe in their own strength.

HBY: What are some challenges you've faced as a teacher and how do you work to overcome them?

Simona: English is my second language, I am introverted, and I have a different sense of humor... I could keep on going with challenges but somehow the love of sharing yoga trumps everything. And besides life is made of little and big challenges.

HBY: You are beginning Teacher Training in the coming weeks. Tell us more about that?

Simona: I am very excited to start this new chapter of yoga. Yoga teacher training is planned to start March 10th and will be held on the weekends, every other weekend for 11 weekends in total. It is 200 hr Yoga Alliance certified program. We'll be learning both the physical and philosophical side of yoga. Learning about yourself and learning to teach yoga in group and private setting.

HBY: What is the one take away anyone reading this should walk away with about you/your ideology surrounding practicing yoga - and life (if applicable)?

Simona: My yoga teaching style is a bit more conservative. Sequencing the classes carefully, preparing the body for next pose. I have this philosophy that you need to be strong enough before you become flexible. Overly flexible people are prone to more injuries. I was in professional sports as a child and I know how physical exercise can ruin the body but I also know how it can heal the body if done correctly.

Music you are listening to right now?I have become that yoga teacher that listens to hip hop before and after yoga classes. Loving Machine Gun Kelly lately. Favorite song though is Home by Machine Gun Kelly, Bebe Rexha, X Ambassadors
